Located just south of Lake Erie and the city of Dunkirk, the small village of Fredonia is a charming location to call home. Tucked away in the vineyards of western New York, residents of Fredonia get to enjoy a beautiful downtown area filled with historical architecture and wrapped around Barker Commons, twin parks laid out in 1825. The surrounding Fredonia Commons Historic District includes 25 buildings, including the Village Hall, several churches, the post office, and the Fenner Fire Station.
Apartments in Fredonia give residents access to SUNY Fredonia, great historic sites, a downtown filled with shops and restaurants, nearby Lake Erie, Buffalo, and Niagara Falls. The Dunkirk Lighthouse, located on Lake Erie, features ghost tours, great lake views, and museums. The Fredonia Opera House opened in 1891 and is a beautiful location to enjoy a wide selection of live performances. Not far from Fredonia, the Seaway Trail features amazing locations, including the American Fleet on Lake Erie, Dunkirk Harbor and Waterfront Park, and the Dunkirk Historic Lighthouse and Veteran’s Park Museum.
Roughly five miles from Fredonia, Lake Erie State Park is a great place for camping, hiking, biking, fishing, and swimming. The nearly one mile stretch of beach is a great summer destination, but winter brings great activities, as well, including snowmobiling and cross-country skiing.
