South Park Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
Four miles south of downtown Buffalo, New York, the South Park community is an urban neighborhood with an abundance of opportunity. With a view of Lake Erie in sight, Interstate 190 can take south park residents to the restaurants, clubs, and nightlife of the city, while the Buffalo Skyway leads to the Tiff Nature Preserve, and the Erie County Botanical Gardens, where families can explore nature together.
The Tiff Nature Preserve is a 264 acre habitat for environmental education and conservation. It has five miles of hiking trails, a bird watching area, cross country skiing, and many hands-on educational activities. Open year round, it is also home to the Buffalo Museum of Science, which has exhibits of dinosaurs, Egyptian history, and geology.
In January 2011, the Buffalo Museum of Science opened The Chronicles of Narnia: The Exhibition. Patterned after the C.S. Lewis novel that became a blockbuster Disney movie, the exhibition is a five thousand square foot adventure true to Disney form. Visitors can experience a bit of movie magic, while learning about science and the power of the imagination.
The Erie County Botanical Gardens, located at 2633 South Park Avenue, was created from 156 acres of farm land in 1894. It has undergone several renovations over the years. The most recent update was completed in 1996. The Botanical Gardens offer adult botany classes, as well as summer camp for children, scouting clubs, and special needs programs.
Buffalo is a lively city influenced by the State University of New York, industrial production facilities, and tourism related to Niagara Falls, a half-hour drive to the north.
While the Buffalo area is well known for its snowy winters, South Park residents have a variety of opportunities to pursue year round.
