Seward Place is technically a southern suburb of Schenectady, New York, but it is actually very close to the center of the city. It is ideally located for an individual who travels to different states on business. The Seward Place neighborhood is approximately 20 miles from the borders of New Hampshire and Massachusetts and about 25 to 30 miles from Connecticut and Pennsylvania. Interstates 87 and 88 are major thoroughfares that run near this community.
Children in Seward Place are served by the Scotia Glenville Central School District and can attend elementary school at Franklin D. Roosevelt Elementary School. Three middle schools are within one and one-half miles of the neighborhood: Martin Luther King Elementary, Mont Pleasant Middle School, and Oneida Middle School. Schenectady High School serves secondary students.
For those with a taste for culture, Seward Place has a great deal to offer. Proctor’s Theatre-Schenectady offers wonderful Broadway-style plays at non-Broadway prices. The Schenectady Light Opera Company performs regularly, and the Schenectady Civic Playhouse offers popular productions.
Residents out for shopping with find the Rotterdam Square Mall a good place to start, and a shopping center known as Mohawk Commons. However, the community itself contains a number of unique, interesting and eclectic shops offering everything from antiques to books.
Medical care is provided by the Ellis Hospital and Ellis Health Center, within two miles of the neighborhood. Also nearby is Bellevue Women’s Health Center.
