First settled in 1681, Bound Brook, New Jersey has a long history. It is the place where the Revolutionary War battle, the Battle of Bound Brook, took place. And, it is the birthplace of the graham cracker.
In 1829, a quirky vegetarian Bound Brook reverend came up with a cure for lust. Reverend Sylvester Graham’s invention may not have done what he originally intended, but thanks to his graham cracker, pie crusts and s’mores would make his invention an American staple.
Today, Bound Brook is a friendly small town with historic homes in a variety of architectural styles. It is pedestrian-friendly and very walkable, with victor Crowell Park nearby for a quiet picnic or to see the stone boathouse landmark. Close to everything, it is 29 miles north of Trenton, 30 miles west of New York City, and 38 miles to the coast.
