Oakville Neighborhood

Oakville, Missouri is an unincorporated suburb within the city of St. Louis, Missouri, located at the southeastern city limits. Residences here include apartments, condominiums and single-family homes, many new and often in a rural setting. Neighborhood open space includes woodsy county parks and trails with Mississippi River views.

Oakville is bordered on the north by Interstate 255, just before it crosses the Mississippi on the Jefferson Barracks Bridge. On the west, I-55 is the boundary. On the south, the boundary is the Meramec River, and on the east, it is the Mississippi River.

Oakville Elementary and Blades Elementary are local schools. Students continue to Oakville, Bernard, or Mehlville middle schools, and then go to Oakville High or Mehlville High. The area also has many parochial and independent schools. The Meramec Campus of the St. Louis Community College offers vocational and academic transfer courses.

Commuters easily make freeway connections from Oakville on I-55 or I-255. Metro Transit St. Louis runs an express bus between Meramec Community College and downtown St. Louis.

For recreation, Cliff Cave County Park has many forest trails, some with cliff-top views of the river. The expansive Cliff Cave is an archaeological treasure, and public tours are available. Bee Tree County Park has much to offer, including a playground, picnic areas, and hiking.

Telegraph Road is the place for shopping and dining in Oakville, with several long-established neighborhood hangouts located here. The South County Mall near 255 and 55 is another option, as is Butler Hill Mall.

Oakville is a peaceful suburban neighborhood near the Mississippi River. With its parks, trails and local gathering places, residents have ample opportunity for fun. When it’s time to add more spice to life, St. Louis offers a quick fix right up the river.
