St Joseph Apartments for Rent
St. Joseph’s most famous resident is also one of the country’s most famous bank robbers – Jesse James. Born in Kearney, Missouri in 1847, Jesse James moved to St. Joseph with his wife and two children in 1881. The house he purchased and was eventually killed in is a popular museum and a historic landmark.
The other noteworthy event in St. Joseph was the founding of the Pony Express – delivery of mail by horse and carriage – in 1860. The main office for the Pony Express was located in the Patee House, which also served as the headquarters for the investigation of Jesse James’ death. This historic building now serves as a museum.
St. Joseph is the county seat of Buchanan County and the location of Missouri Western State University. What began as a rough frontier town when it was incorporated in 1843 has evolved into one of the largest cities in Missouri. It is a gorgeous city with a definite Western flair, and those choosing to rent apartments in St. Joseph will appreciate its art scene, beautiful museums, and wonderful parks.
