Wornall Homestead is a neighborhood in Kansas City, Missouri. The neighborhood is located along Wornall Road and Brookside Boulevard. Homes in the area are pretty modern, with most of them well maintained. Most of the area has been developed for quite some time, so trees have had a few decades to grow, providing an excellent green canopy cover over the community. Heavy residential blocks provide low traffic roads through the residential areas that are perfect for those walking their dogs, running, skating, or cycling through the area.
Within the neighborhood is an interesting attraction that brings in quite a few visitors. The John Wornall House Museum off Wornall Road was built in 1858 and is one of the oldest homes in the region. The home has been beautifully restored with many time period pieces and is a wonderful look into the past from the viewpoint of one of the earlier settlers. The museum has regular tours and events.
Recreation is pretty easy to come by in Wornall with several golf courses and parks throughout the immediate area, most of which are within walking distance. The Jacob L Loose Park off west 52 Terrace is one of the more popular parks for families. This park has lots of open space with a playground and tennis courts. There are many trails that take advantage of a small pond, providing a great place to relax. For golfers, Mission Hills Country Club and Kansas City Country Club are only a mile to the west. Both clubs have excellent courses and amenities that are well maintained.
A fun place to visit that is relatively unique is the Toy and Miniature Museum located off of Oak Street, about a mile northeast of Wornall Homestead. The museum has numerous collections of toys and miniatures from a variety of time periods.
