Vineyard Northwest is not generally a walkable neighborhood. A car is required to run most errands and there are only a few amenities within walking distance. Several bus routes however are available throughout to connect this neighborhood to other popular areas of the city.

Martin Luther King Elementary off Indiana Avenue offers classes from kindergarten to 7th grade. George Washington Carver School off Elmwood Avenue is an elementary school serving up to 7th grade. George Melcher School off Chelsea Avenue offers classes for school-age children up to 7th grade. Finally, Fairview Alternative at Meservy School, offers class from grades 6 to 8.

The Vineyard Northwest neighborhood is inhabited by about 2,800 residents which makes up 0.6% of Kansas City’s total population.
