Sechrest is a neighborhood in Kansas City, Missouri. The neighborhood is located north of Bannister Road, west of Interstate 435, and east of US Highway 71. This mostly undeveloped area is known for having a wealth of greenery. Trees line the streets, providing excellent canopy cover and wonderful opportunities to spot one of the numerous species of birds native to the area.

Sechrest’s seclusion provides residents with a great deal of peace, although Kansas City’s major attractions are easily within reach. Most of the shopping in the area is done at major retail establishments. Hillcrest Road is probably the closest area for everyday needs. In this area there is a Wal-Mart, Burlington Coat Factory, Toys R Us, K-Mart, Payless Shoe Source, and Home Depot. Other smaller businesses are located between these big chain stores.

Two popular golf courses are each about a mile from Sechrest. Turner Golf Course sits to the north of Hillcrest Road. This course is modest but well maintained, providing a solid game of golf. Oakwood Country Club, found off of Grandview Road, is somewhat larger and has more amenities than Turner. Oakwood also offers a quality tennis program, providing eight tennis for individual instruction, league play, and tournaments. Oakwood houses basketball courts, a fitness center, and a swimming pool as well.

Quiet streets throughout the surrounding area provide excellent opportunities for walkers, joggers, skaters, and cyclists.
