Crossgates Apartments for Rent

Crossgates, located almost due south of downtown Kansas City, not only sits between two shopping malls but is less than a mile from Longview Lake. This 930 acre body of water offers a 27-hole golf course, swimming beach, picnic shelters, softball fields, hiking and biking trails, and an arena suitable for equestrian events. Tent and RV camping are offered and some parts of the lake allow dogs off-leash. On the eastern shore of the lake is Kansas City Metropolitan Jr. College.

The neighborhood itself is only a eight blocks long and five wide and is a mix of single family homes, duplexes, and apartments. A few homes date back to the early 1930s but the major development occurred between 1960 and 1990. Most of the apartments are on the eastern end. The northern end, along Longview Road is largely commercial and home to the Missouri Career Center, the Express Mart of Longview, the Word of Life Worship Center, and the Longview Methodist Church. South of Crossgates is a considerable amount of undeveloped land. Some of the streets in Crossgates dead end at this lightly forested area.

Ingels Elementary School is on the northwestern edge of Crossgates. The Word of Life Learning Center & Christian Academy is right in the middle of the neighborhood on Holiday Drive. Ruskin High School is to the north next to the Ruskin Heights Shopping Center, both within walking distance.

Truman Corners Shopping Mall is right next to the Harry S Truman Farm Home where our president lived from 1906 to 1917. Guided tours are offered during the summer season. The mall sits on what was Truman land. Some of the tenants include Bank of America, Curves, and the CVS Pharmacy. The usual fast food outlets are offered as well as the 54th Street Bar & Grill.
