Cooley Highlands is bound by North East Parvin Road, Chouteau Trafficway, and North East Antioch Road. The area is surrounded by parks and woodlands in the gentle hills north of the Missouri River. Ranch homes on large, shady lots are appealing and carefully maintained.

Chouteau Trafficway is not only the eastern boundary, but also a main route to downtown Kansas City, affording the neighborhood extremely convenient access to all of Kansas’ big city attractions.

Just across the Missouri River are Riverfront Park and River Market. The market is a popular area full of restaurants, outdoor shopping, and a top attraction called Steamboat Arabia. About ten miles away are Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Chiefs, and Kauffman Stadium, home of the Royals.

You don’t have to travel all the way to the city, however, for good entertainment. Harrah’s North Kansas City Hotel & Casino is only about a half-mile away, and other casinos can be found along the river area as well.

Waterworks Park has a disc golf course, and Macken Park offers both ball fields and walking trails. Both parks are an easy walk from the Cooley Highlands neighborhood.

William Jewell College and Maple Hills Community College are both nearby.

Top Clay County Historical Sites are also just a short drive away. Jesse James grew up in the area and is considered one of the region’s most colorful characters, so it’s only fitting that both his family farm and a bank he once robbed have been preserved and are open to the public.

Neighborhood conveniences and grocers are within a mile. Major retailers can be found in a number of shopping centers a few miles away. Several public golf courses are just north as well.

When you need something more than neighborhood parks, Smithville is not far away. The vast lake is a favorite for boating, fishing, camping, and hiking.
