The boundary roads of the Bridlespur neighborhood give residents easy access to local and greater metro activities and sites. I-435, Holmes Road, West Red Bridge Road, and Wornall Road are all major thoroughfares.

The Bridlespur community is characterized by large, brick ranch homes and split-level dwellings. Sidewalks run along the streets under mature shade trees. This is a well-kept area of spacious lawns and gentle hills.

Avila College occupies a 50-acre campus just a mile south of Bridlespur on Wornall Road. This private college has an enrollment of about 1,200 students, yet earned recognition from US News as a Best College.

The University of Missouri at Kansas City has an enrollment of around 15,000 students, a number that continues to grow. The health and medical programs, including nursing, medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy, are well known. UMKC Law School is the alma mater of Harry S. Truman. Other two- and four-year colleges and universities are nearby.

The neighborhood YMCA on Holmes Road offers swimming, basketball, childcare, and other programs for all ages. Also nearby are a dozen golf courses at area country clubs and public courses. Leawood Aquatic Center is just west, along Red Bridge Road. Blue Valley Recreation Complex is a bit farther southwest. Just two miles east are the Kermodle Lakes and Park, great for camping, golf, and fishing.

It is a short drive from the Bridlespur neighborhood to 18th and Vine, the historic jazz district. The area celebrates Kansas City’s musical history, which can be seen in the American Jazz Museum. The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum is here as well. Both are fitting tributes to such hometown greats as Satchel Paige, Count Basie, and Charlie Parker.

From Crown Center to Country Club Plaza to Westport, great shopping, dining, and entertainment offer year-round variety and excitement to Bridlespur residents.
