Davidson neighborhood, with its beautiful lawns and heavy shade, has a graceful, inviting feel. Most of the homes are carefully tended, single-story, ranch-style homes of generous proportion.
Davidson is bound by North West Englewood Road, Highway 1, Interstate 29, and North Oak Trafficway, with Englewood Park comprising much of the neighborhood. Smaller Davidson Park is centrally located. A favorite old park – Line Creek – is a short walk west, and many other parks surround the neighborhood.
North Kansas City Community Center and the YMCA just south of Davidson are other great spots for recreational activities in the area.
Located just a short drive north are two golf courses, including Tiffany Green Golf Club and Staley Farms. A bit further north is Smithville Lake, which has not only a golf course, but most other types of outdoor recreation as well.
Several shopping areas are nearby. Macy’s Department Store is at Prairie Village. The newest and very popular shopping area – Zona Rosa – is a short drive away. Two Target Stores and two Wal-Marts are near the Davidson area as well.
Jesse James is one of the most famous figures of Clay County. Jesse James Farm and Museum and the Jesse James Bank are just to the east. Liberty Jail Historical Site, where Joseph Smith was imprisoned, is another attraction.
Of course, south of the river are the many activities and historical sites often associated with Kansas City, such as jazz at the Power and Light District. The Royals and The Chiefs play at nearby stadiums, and the River Market is a destination spot, with its outdoor market and Steamboat Arabia.
Educational institutions convenient to Davidson include William Jewell College and Maple Hill Community College.
