Coachlight Square is a well-maintained, residential neighborhood located approximately seven miles southeast of Kansas City, Missouri and six miles southwest of Independence. The community is bounded by Interstate 435 at the west and extends east to Blue Ridge Cutoff. East 55th is the northern border and East 57th Street makes up the southern boundary.
The single-family homes within Coachlight Square vary from the typical ranch-style dwelling to manufactured homes. The community contains lush landscapes, majestic trees, and rolling hills. A majority of the neighborhood does not provide sidewalks however; many of the smaller streets are dead ends which limits through traffic.
Coachlight Square is located in the 64129 zip code of Jackson County. Eastwood Hills Elementary is just minutes to the north of the neighborhood. Raytown Middle School is approximately two miles to the northeast and Raytown High School is to the southeast, also about two miles.
Various public parks surround the Coachlight Square area. To the west and northwest are Hubbs Park, Brush Creek Park, and Eastwood Park. About a mile to the southeast is Blue Ridge Park and a couple miles to the southwest are Swope Park and Swope Memorial Golf Course.
Kansas City dubs Swope Park as its crown jewel of the city’s park system. It is also the city’s largest park. The park is named for Thomas Hunton Swope, one of Kansas City’s largest land owners during the mid 1800s. Swope’s memorial where he is also buried is located at the park overlooking the park’s lagoon. The park also provides various amenities and activities including the Starlight Theatre, Kansas City Zoological Park, and the Kansas City Zoo. Residents enjoy the annual Party in the Park held in July at Swope Park which offers family-friendly activities for free or very little cost.
