Southfork Lake is a residential neighborhood located southwest of downtown Columbia. The subdivision is nestled on South Sabine Drive, just north of State Highway K. The Southfork Lake neighborhood and surrounding areas are popular with residents due to proximity to Eagle Bluffs Conservation Area. Eagle Bluffs is only minutes away, to the south of the neighborhood. To the south of Eagle Bluffs is the Plowboy Bend Conservation Area, and to the north is the Overton Bottoms Conservation Area. This entire area is a nature enthusiast’s and outdoorsman’s dream come true.
There are more than 10 miles of stream water running through Eagle Bluffs, provided by the Missouri River and Perche Creek. Fishing is only one recreational activity available. Bird watching, hiking, camping, and seasonal hunting are just some of the pastimes enjoyed at this conservation area. Other beautiful areas for residents include Rock Bridge State Park and Three Creek Conservation Area. Both are less than 20 minutes to the east and southeast, respectively.
Southfork Lake is situated in a rural area, with downtown Columbia approximately eight miles to the northeast. Residents will find a concentration of large chain stores and businesses to the west of the downtown section, including the Columbia Mall.
Public schools near the Southfork Lake neighborhood include Mill Creek Elementary, Gentry Middle, and Hickman High School. Public libraries are located in the downtown area, while the Columbia Regional Airport is about eight miles east of Southfork Lake.
