It’s equally close to two great golf facilities. Just north is the prestigious Columbia Country Club, with all the amenities one expects in a club of this caliber. Near the University of Missouri campus is a fine public course, A. L. Gustin Golf Course.

In the downtown area, known simply as The District, one finds the Missouri Theatre for the Arts, home of the ballet, symphony, and opera. The Ragtag Cinema brings independent and avant-garde films to Columbia.

This is also the area for nightlife and entertainment. The Blue Note is located in a restored vaudeville theater and features alternative rock, blues, reggae, and folk music. The Flat Branch Pub & Brewery has won national attention. Its beer was named one of the best in America by Esquire magazine. The District is the site of summer concerts and festivals.

Great historic and recreational sites surround Columbia on all sides. The KATY Trail is nine miles south of East Pointe.
