Douglass Park is one of the most conveniently located neighborhoods in Columbia. Columbia’s great historic and entertainment district, parks, and a comprehensive mall are within a couple of miles. Three higher educational institutions are within walking distance.

The neighborhood park, Peace Park, is on the campus of U. of M. It is one of the venues for the two-day fall festival known as “Roots ‘N Blues ‘N BBQ” which brings great food and great music to several sites around town.

The city’s largest park is only a bit farther, Cosmo Park. This large park has something for almost everyone it seems. An off-leash dog area at Bear Creek, and a 28,000 square foot Skate Park are just two of the highlights of this vast city park.

The Activity & Recreation Center, known as the ARC, is on the south side of Cosmo Park. This new complex has an indoor pool and track, exercise classes, a fitness center, and related programs.

Historic Columbia Cemetery, along the south boundary of Douglass Park, was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007. Dating to 1820, it is the burial site of two Revolutionary War Soldiers and one of Columbia’s most famous musicians – J. W. “Blind” Boone.

The University of Missouri, home to more than 20,000 students, is the site of great football and basketball. The University also brings great entertainment. Jesse Auditorium and the Mizzou Sports Arena feature world-class entertainers.

The District is a multi-block entertainment area. The RagTag Cinema, Missouri Theatre for the Arts, and The Blue Note are just a few of the best.
