March Air Reserve Base, CA

Situated between Riverside and Moreno Valley, March Air Reserve Base is home to the 4th Air Force of the Air Force Reserve Command. The 452nd Air Mobility Wing, the largest of its kind in the Air Force, is the host unit. Built in 1918, this is one of the military’s oldest airfields. Previously known as March Air Force Base, the base underwent realignment in 1996, bringing to a close the base’s 78-year history as an active duty military installation. A biennial air show is held at the base – the March Field Airfest, a popular event and one of the largest in the Inland Empire.

With a busy surrounding area, finding an apartment near March Air Reserve Base won’t be difficult. Look in Moreno Valley, which is located on the east side of the base. Moreno Valley is a young city — but it is also one of the largest in the area. Moreno Valley became a city in 1984 and is now home to more than 200,000. The city’s most famous landmark is Box Spring Mountain, which is visible in almost every part of the city. Moreno Valley and its nearest neighbor of Riverside are part of the San Bernardino-Riverside metro area, with the city of San Bernardino located about 19 miles north.
