Home of the 144th Fighter Wing of the California Air National Guard, the Fresno Air National Guard Base helps provide air defense protection for the state. The base, which was built in 1942, is currently located on property leased from the Fresno Yosemite International Airport. The airport and the base are about four miles from downtown Fresno.
