Although Sterling Heights didn’t become a city until 1968, the Clinton River and its plentiful resources has long been a draw for settlers to the area. The first settlers arrived shortly after the Revolutionary War and built cabins along what was then called the Huron River. The rural area was perfect for farming, and the area became an agricultural hub.
Today, Sterling Heights is one of the largest cities in Michigan, ranking fourth in population. It is considered one of the top cities for raising a family. The city prides itself on being family-friendly and has an extensive system of parks and a top-rated school system. This lovely city has been a Tree City USA since 1985 and boasts several golf courses.
