Recreational attractions in Greendale keep residents busy. Kendrick lies within the neighborhood. This baseball park has a soccer field, a basketball court, and three baseball diamonds. Dodge Park is located in the southern part of the neighborhood. This 13-acre site features miles of walking trails through lush forestland.
Students appreciate the fact that Quinsigamond Community College is located in the neighborhood. Established in 1963, the school has more than 13,000 students and offers 70-plus associate’s degrees in a wide variety of subjects, including human services, health care, and technology.
History buffs enjoy visiting the Higgins Armory Museum, which lies in the southern end of the community. Founded in 1927 by John Woodman Higgins, who built the Art Deco-style building using a free-standing glass and steel frame structure, the museum houses arms and armor from around the world and throughout the centuries. The collection contains items such as gladiator helmets, Medieval Time’s war hammers, and full suits of Japanese Samurai armor.
Golfers need only travel a short distance outside of Greendale to the north to catch a game at the Worcester Country Club. This historic course was opened in 1900 and has hosted a wide variety of important events, such as the 1925 U.S. Open and, more recently, the 2006 Massachusetts Amateur State Championship.
