Kids of all ages enjoy visiting the Tacoma Street Playground located on the northern border of Great Brook Valley. This popular community park has basketball courts, a playground, and plenty of room to roam. The Greater Brook Valley Playground lies along the eastern border of the community. This park features a baseball diamond, and hiking trails. When fishing and playing ball is desired, Burncoat Park to the southwest fits the bill. This 16.4-acre park suits many area residents with its baseball diamond and a pond.
Those residents desiring an even more park recreation enjoy visiting Green Hill Park and Pond, which lies to the south of Great Brook Valley. This 480-acre park contains two ponds, a playground, a Little League field, handball courts, a golf course, and a barnyard zoo. The zoo features a variety of animals, such as sheep, pigs, goats, chickens, llamas, pheasants, and ducks. The golf course has 18 holes and is open from April through October.
Green Hill Park is also home to the Massachusetts Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial, which honors the Massachusetts’ veterans of the Vietnam War. Also, the park houses the Green Hill Park Shelter, which was built in 1910. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
