Wide streets lined with massive centuries-old trees, and a forested greenbelt along the eastern border of the community, make Burncoat a highly walkable neighborhood. Homes in the northeast section of the community look out over a scenic golf course.
Burncoat is located in zip code 01606. The Interstate 190 runs to the west of the neighborhood, and the 290 travels to the south.
Of the many appealing aspects of living in Burncoat is the community’s proximity to the Worcester Country Club. Located just outside of Burncoat to the north, this private club hosted the first Ryder Cup in 1927, and the 1925 U.S. Open. The 19-hole course traverses rolling greens and mature vegetation. The club also has a pool and clubhouse.
Children of all ages enjoy visiting the Tacoma Street Playground, which sits along the northeastern border of the community. This picturesque park features basketball courts, picnic areas, and a playground. A little further to the northeast is the Greater Brook Valley Playground, which has a baseball diamond. Kendrick Field to the west has several baseball diamonds and a basketball court.
Students are glad to know that Quinsigamond Community College is located in Burncoat. This community college was opened in 1963 and provides over 70 associate degrees in a wide variety of subjects, such as business, healthcare, and human services.
Residents interested in history enjoy a trip to the Higgins Armory Museum, which is located just outside of the community to the west. Located in a steel, art-deco building, this facility features arms and armor from around the world and throughout the centuries.
