The Broadmeadow Brook neighborhood of Worcester offers numerous activities for families.
The centerpiece of this neighborhood is Broad Meadow Brook Conservation Center and Wildlife Sanctuary, located on Massasoit Road. This preserve offers families plenty of opportunities to take advantage of walking and hiking trails and to enjoy the quiet and solitude of nature. One of the many programs that the sanctuary offers is an annual Bird-a-Thon, which takes place each May. Participants are often surprised at the more than 150 species of birds — which include Caspian Tern, Chuck-will’s-widow, Cave Swallow, Golden-winged Warbler, Western Tanager, and others — that are identified during this program.
Other interesting areas near the Broadmeadow Brook neighborhood include Hanover Center for the Performing Arts, which is located in the Central Business District.
Holy Name Central Catholic High School is located in the Broadmeadow Brook neighborhood and serves as a junior/senior high school. Elementary schools in the neighborhood include Rice Square, Blithewood and Roosevelt Elementary schools. Also in the area are several playgrounds, including Banis Street playground, Broad Meadow Brook Savannah and Mulcahy Field.
The neighborhood also offers some family favorite restaurants, including Dean’s Deli, Papa John’s Pizza, and Cranberries, which is ideal for seafood lovers.
Shopping areas include the nearby Building 19 and South Plaza Shopping Center, as well as a Wal-Mart Supercenter, located only a mile away from the center of this neighborhood. The Broadmeadow Brook neighborhood offers easy access to Interstate 290 and Route 20, as well as to I90, which is the Mass Turnpike.
While the neighborhood may not be the best neighborhood for walking, there is plenty of easy access to amenities and entertainment venues making it one of the popular residential neighborhoods in Worcester.
