Abington, MA Apartments for Rent

Roughly 20 miles south of Boston, Abington is a charming New England town with a fascinating history and a great location. It is located in Plymouth County and was purchased in 1650 as part of the Bridgewater Purchase, but it wasn’t until 1668 that colonists began to arrive. Abington was officially incorporated in 1712.

The first major industry in Abington was shoe-making, which began around 1820 and lasted until the 20th century. The Shumatuscacant River provided the water power for the shoe factories. During the Civil War, Abington provided almost half of the Union Army footwear. The New England Art Factory is located in the former L.A. Crosset Co. shoe factory.
