Located 12 miles south of Evansville Indiana along the Ohio River in Western Kentucky, Henderson is a beautiful city that inspired naturalist and resident John James Audubon. This traditional Southern river town is family-oriented and thriving.

Industrial parks, both new and revitalized, are the backbone of Henderson’s industry-based economy, but the community’s lively festivals and tradition of fine arts give this small town an artistic flair. Some of the festivals include the Big Rivers Arts and Crafts Show, the Lion’s Club Tri-Fest, and the W.C. Handy Blues and Barbecue Festival.

John James Audubon lived in Henderson in the early 1800s. Today, the downtown features several bird sculptures by Raymond Graf based on Audubon’s paintings. Audubon State Park features the John James Audubon Museum’s extensive collection of Audubon’s works. The park is located on 692 acres and offers camping, hiking, fishing, swimming, golf, and tennis.

Kentucky is known for it’s love of horses, and Henderson is no exception. Watch your favorite horse run at Ellis Park, a thoroughbred race track.
