In a relatively new area of upscale ranch homes, Oak Hollow is a neighborhood of rolling hills surrounded by forests. Sidewalks serve much of Oak Hollow, allowing for pleasant walks to admire the neighborhood’s lovely lawns. Oak Hollow is convenient for couples and families who work in the Manhattan area. Easy access to major roads and its location on the west side of town make it especially attractive.
Oak Hollow is bound by Fort Riley Boulevard, Gillespie Drive, Tonga Street, and Davis Drive in zip code 66502.
From Oak Hollow, it is eight miles to Fort Riley and only a bit farther to the town of Junction City. For recreation in the great outdoors, the state’s largest lake, Milford, is only 15 miles away. The lake has abundant camping facilities, cabin rentals, trails, and some of the best fishing in the state. A national walleye fishing tournament is held here each year.
Close to home, several national and local establishments mean shopping and entertainment are only a mile or so away. Zuckey Bowling Center and Sunset Zoo are just down the hill from Oak Meadow. A locally famous produce store and plant nursery is near the zoo. Only a mile or so away is Home Depot, Target, a movie complex, and restaurants.
Almost within sight of Oak Meadow is Warner Memorial Park. This is a natural area of native grass and woods. It has two trails, one of which traces the historic Fort Riley Leavenworth Trail System, once used by the US Cavalry. The park recently added a 9-hole disc golf course, the city’s first.
The campus of Kansas State University is a little over three miles away. Manhattan Christian College is about the same distance, and Manhattan Technical College is slightly closer.
