Homes in the Hillview community range from tidy ranch and split-levels to upscale contemporaries. It is a comfortable neighborhood with large shade trees and groomed lawns. Sidewalks run through parts of this area, making for comfortable walks to some of the city’s top sites and largest employers.

Hillview is also convenient for Kansas State University employees and students. But for everyone, simply strolling the brick streets and admiring the architecture, especially in fall when the hardwoods are a blaze of color, is a fine experience. Visit Beach Art Museum or a take in a concert or lecture at McCain Auditorium. The Landon Lecture Series brings in the nation’s most famous and highly regarded government and military leaders for speaking engagements.
For those with children in 4-H or anyone who enjoys an old-fashioned county fair, the Riley Country Fairgrounds are quite close. The fairgrounds host numerous horse shows and rodeos. Adjoining the fairgrounds is 97-acre Cico Park with athletic courts and fields, trails, a playground, and swimming pool. The community center provides fitness courses. The fairgrounds and park are less than a mile from Hillview.
There is a small shopping center near Cico Park, with a grocery store, restaurant, pharmacy, and small specialty stores. Manhattan Area Technical College is also near Cico Park.
Hillview is close to Seth Child Road, a major thoroughfare. About five miles away on Seth Child Road are numerous retailers, including Target, Home Depot, several restaurants, a movie complex, and Sunset Zoo. Seth Child Road links Manhattan to Fort Riley and Junction City.
