The community of College Hill Park in Manhattan, Kansas has several educational institutions within or near its borders. From a preschool to a major public university, this neighborhood is the Little Apple’s unofficial educational center.
College Hill Park is bound by Kimball Avenue (County Highway 408) to the north, Ranser Road and Vaughn Drive to the northeast, College Avenue to the southeast, Dickens Avenue to the south, and Seth Child Road (Highway 113) to the west.
The community also borders Kansas State University. In particular, it’s near its sports facilities including Bill Snyder Family Football Stadium, K-State Sports Complex, Frank Myers Field, RV Christian Track, and Brandeberry Indoor Complex.
The collegiate teams of Kansas State University are known as the Wildcats. They play within the major NCAA I league, the Big 12. The football and basketball teams play before sellout crowds and are usually highly ranked.
The neighborhood is in proximity to another college. Manhattan Area Technical College is west of Highway 113. It offers Associate of Applied Science degrees and certificates in various programs. Other schools, Marlatt Elementary School, College Hill Preschool, and Manhattan Academy of Korean Arts are on the border streets of Dickens Avenue and Kimball Avenue.
College Hill Park has several medical facilities. Manhattan Surgical Center and Mercy Regional Center are off of College Avenue in the the northeast sector of the community. Next to Marlatt Elementary is a medical center which houses Manhattan Dermatology, Women’s Health Group, and Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center.
West of the community is another attraction, Riley County Fairgrounds. Every year in late July, the facility holds the Riley County fair. Throughout the year, it is used for several activities and sporting events. Baseball fields, the Circo Public Swimming Pool, a football stadium, and tennis courts can all be found in this facility.
