Once a rest stop for weary travelers on the Santa Fe Trail, the city of Mission has long been an attractive location. A quick seven-mile drive south of Kansas City, this suburb is fast-growing. It is located near I-35, along a major business corridor.
With older, established neighborhoods, Mission doesn’t look like a typical suburban city. In addition to large lots with mature trees, the city offers seven local parks, a municipal pool, and an 80,000-square-foot community center with racquetball courts, an aquatic center, an indoor track, meeting rooms, and a conference center.
Annual events in Mission include the Spirit of Mission Days, a festival with live music, a parade, and a carnival. Mission Arts & Eats Festival features arts and crafts and the Battle of the Brisket State Championship BBQ Contest. There are also several seasonal events.
Mission’s rental apartments are close to downtown Kansas City and all its attractions, but just far enough away to enjoy the quiet Midwestern lifestyle.
