Golden, Colorado is the county seat of Jefferson County and is located just northwest of Denver. The neighborhood of Daniels lies in Golden, along Highway 6. The western border is Welch Street and Coors Street, to the north is West Colfax and to the east is Oak Street. Average house prices in the area are approximately $215,000 and the majority of the neighborhood houses were built prior to 1950. The area is a combination of single family houses, apartment units, condos and commercial real estate.
The Gary McDonnell Park offers visitors ample room to run and play. There are picnic tables and shelters, a playground, softball and baseball fields, a basketball court and walking paths. The Daniels Park, while not actually in the neighborhood, is nearby and features picnic shelters, softball and baseball fields, tennis courts, a basketball court, a volleyball court, a playground and pedestrian/bike paths. The Welchester Grant Tree Park is along the northwestern edge of the Daniels neighborhood. It’s an 18 acre area of open space. There is a short trail that winds along a stream and through attractions like the historic grove of trees from the 1878 Timber Culture Act.
The historic Golden Hill Cemetery is located just north east of the neighborhood and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. The Saint Anthony Medical Campus is nearby, as is Red Rocks Community College and the Colorado Christian University. Market Square Shopping Center and Meadowlark Shopping Center are just a short drive away.
