Waukee, Iowa recently held a contest to create a new logo and slogan for their city. One resident captured the essence of Waukee with “Key to Good Living.” Located just minutes from the west side of Des Moines, Waukee has become a fast-growing city.
Waukee has something for everyone. It is home to Sugar Creek Golf Course, a nine-hole city-owned course that includes a pro shop, snack bar, and clubhouses. The YMCA recently completed a new facility in the city limits of Waukee. Seven parks include disc golf, volleyball, basketball, trails, and shelters for outdoor fun.
Festivals dot the calendar in summer with a weekly Farmer’s Market, Jazz in July, and 4th of July celebrations. Winterfest is held each year at Triangle Park, featuring carriage rides and pictures with Santa. Waukee Public Library is now home to Painted Lady caterpillars, so come and watch as they transform into butterflies!
