Capitol View South Apartments for Rent

The Capitol View South neighborhood is located between South East 14th Street and the Des Moines River. The Pete Crivaro Park lies in the southeast tip. It is a neighborhood of small, single-family ranch homes, mixed commercial, and undeveloped areas.

Capitol View South is very conveniently located to some of the best attractions, parks, and shopping in Des Moines. Within a mile walk, residents can be in the heart of the Historic District, the Iowa State Capitol, and the River Walk area. They can walk to Pete Crivaro Park, or cross the river to Principal Park to take in a minor league baseball game.

Just a bit further from Capitol View South are other fine attractions and recreational places.

Water Works Park, about five miles southwest, is a popular spot for boating, wakeboarding, and water skiing. The larger parks to the north are great recreational areas. These include Big Creek State Park and Saylorville Lake.

There are two dog parks nearby. One is located at Raccoon River and the other at Somersky Park, just south of Des Moines Community College.

Many residents enjoy shopping in the Historic East Village area just to the north. This pedestrian friendly district features small shops, eateries, and entertainment venues. National retailers such as Target, Sears, and J. C. Penney can be found at Southridge Mall. Southridge also has a HyVee Grocery, and many fast-food restaurants.

The closest golf courses are the A. H. Blank Municipal Course and the Wakonda Club, a private equity course. Toad Valley Public Golf Course is not far away.

Des Moines is the home of several higher educational institutions, including Des Moines Community College and Des Moines University, an osteopathic school.

DART provides daily scheduled service to business and residential areas and to major malls.
