The borders of the neighborhood are SE14th Street which is Route 69 to the west, SE 36th Street on the east, East Marion Street to the north and East Army Post Road on the south. The majority of this neighborhood is comprised of newer homes. The streets are wide and there are sidewalks.

Ewing Park is the largest of the 53 city parks in Des Moines Iowa. It offers an amazing disc golf course as well as a lilac arboretum. It has three water features, a lake, a pond and a lagoon as well as picnic tables and grills. For the younger set there is also a playground. There are a lot of trees and shaded area in this park.

Easter Lake Park is located in the Bloomfield/Allen neighborhood of Des Moines. The main feature in the park is the lake which is over 170 acres. In the warm weather it is a great place to swim and there is a boat rental facility. For fishermen the lake is stocked with bass, catfish and walleye. There are picnic pavilions along the lake at five different locations and there is also a playground. This is a treasure to the residents of this neighborhood and all of Polk County.
