Scenic Fairbanks Park is tucked along the Wabash River and contains 145 acres. Festivals are often held in Fairbanks Park, which is also home to the beautiful Riverwalk. The Wabashiki Fish and Wildlife Area contains 2,400 acres along the river and is popular for fishing and hunting.

With a history that dates back to the 18th century when French explorers first settled the area, Terre Haute is home to several historic locations and many museums. The Farrington Grove Historic District is a residential neighborhood that contains several historic homes.
