The neighborhood of North Pointe in Bloomington, Illinois is roughly rectangular in size. Its north border is formed by Fort Jesse Road and to the south is East College Avenue. The neighborhood is residential and the majority of the homes are located in subdivisions and have been constructed in the last 20 years. North Pointe is located in McLean County.
North Pointe Park is located within the neighborhood and is adjacent to North Pointe Elementary School. The park is 20 acres in size and features a basketball court, football field, playground equipment, softball and baseball fields, picnic tables, shelters and drinking fountains. Just beyond the southern boundaries of the neighborhood is Tipton Park. Tipton Park is 50 acres in size and 85% of the park are natural areas, comprised of Illinois prairie. Fishing is available in the lake and at the small pond. The park was designed with “green” in mind and is able to filter the urban storm water runoff. The park features a two mile asphalt trail that winds through the park. There is a shelter built in a rustic barn style and a farm themed playground. Along with the walking trails, fishing and playground, the park also features a football field, soccer fields, softball, and baseball fields. There are picnic tables, restroom facilities and drinking fountains.
North Pointe is near the Central Illinois Regional Airport, Heartland Community College and Illinois State University. Ironwood Country Club is located to the north of the neighborhood and the historic Route 66 winds through the countryside just west of the neighborhood.
