On the south side of Bloomington, Illinois adjacent to the Lakeside Country Club is the neighborhood of Links Landing. Bloomington’s first public park is home to the Miller Park Zoo as well as an 11-acre lake with fishing and paddleboat rentals. Miller Park has memorials to war veterans and a 100-year old pavilion that can be rented for weddings and other events.
The U.S. Cellular Coliseum is also two miles from Links Landing in downtown Bloomington. The facilities opened in 2006. It is the home site for Bloomington’s Prairie Thunder International Ice Hockey team and the Bloomington Extreme indoor football team. The Coliseum also books concerts and other events, drawing visitors from all parts of the state.
