Home to the Williamson County Regional Airport and just north of Crab Orchard Lake, Herrin is a small gem of a city located about 14 miles northeast of Carbondale. First settled by Isaac Herring in 1816, Herrin was created two years before Illinois became a state.
Today, Herrin is an appealing city, its history still evident in the downtown architecture. In addition to a charming downtown filled with shops, boutiques, restaurants, and coffee shops, Herrin features some attractive landmark, such as the Coal Miner’s Memorial and Dough Boy, a WWI memorial statue.
Rent a Herrin apartment and you’ll enjoy spending time at Herrin City Park. This beautiful park features the Harrison Bruce Aquatic Center, a baseball park, the Herrin Park fountain, picnic areas, two walking paths, tennis courts, basketball courts, playgrounds, and a skate park.
HerrinFesta Italiana is a popular annual festival that includes live entertainment, a midway and carnival, bocce tournaments, parades, and Italian food. The festival celebrates Herrin’s Italian heritage with entertainment and family fun.
