The Central Rim neighborhood is situated in central Boise, Idaho, just west of the heart of the downtown area. This rather large residential neighborhood spans .440 square miles and has more than 1,630 residents. It is bounded by Interstate 184 on the north, Emerald Street on the south, North Orchard Street on the west, and West American Terrace on the east. The zip code for Central Rim is 83706; it is within Ada County.
The eastern part of Central Rim includes the northern portion of Ann Morrison Park, one of the city’s largest parks and one of the neighborhood’s biggest attractions. Among the amenities at this beautiful park are a disc golf course, decorative fountain, playground, and picnic areas, as well as plenty of open space for games and sports. The park also provides easy access to the greenbelt and the Boise River, the latter of which offers opportunities for fishing, kayaking, and rafting. Immediately to the south of the Central Rim neighborhood is the Morris Hill Cemetery and adjacent Morris Hill Park.
Other amenities close to home include three area medical centers within a few miles west of the Central Rim community. These include Intermountain Hospital of Boise, St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, Treasure Valley Hospital, and St. Luke’s Meridian Medical Center. Clearly, Central Rim residents have no shortage of options when it comes to quality health care within a short distance of home.
Several shopping centers are also conveniently situated within a few miles west of Central Rim. These include the Fairwood Shopping Center, Westgate Shopping Center, Boise Towne Plaza, and Boise Town Square Mall. The latter is the largest mall in the entire state. It offers more than 185 specialty stores anchored by a Sears, Macy’s, Dillard’s, and J.C. Penney’s. Dining options here include an Olive Garden, Red Robin, and The Cheesecake Factory. Slightly farther west is another shopping center – the Meridian Crossroads.
Another feature of the Central Rim neighborhood is Boise State University, which is easily within walking distance to the southeast, on the opposite side of Ann Morrison Park.
