Located in the greater Atlanta area, Joyland stands out as a residential neighborhood that’s on the rise. It houses a wide variety of singe-family, detached homes, as well as apartment buildings and attached residential units. The neighborhood offers easy access to Downtown Atlanta by car, as well as the opportunity to enjoy local outdoor activities and cultural attractions.
The 9.9-acre Arthur Langford, Jr. Park is a Joyland landmark and popular area park. It’s considered to be a community-style park and offers a playground for kids. It also features a swimming pool, tennis courts, basketball courts, and softball fields. While there is no off-leash section of the park for canines, neighborhood residents frequently walk their dogs here. The nearest off-leash dog park is Piedmont Park, which is five miles to the north of the neighborhood.
There are many parks in the area for two-legged folks, however. The Emma Millican Park is only a half-mile west of Joyland. Pekerson Park lies almost a mile west of the community, while the South Atlanta Park is a half-mile to the northeast of the neighborhood’s center.
Parks aren’t the only things that make Joyland a standout community for young families. The area schools have some of the best reputations in the greater Atlanta area. Great schools within walking distance of the neighborhood include Thomas Heathe Slater School, Capitol View Elementary School, Luther Judson Price Middle School, Carver High School, Campbell School, the Ron Clark Academy, and Parks Middle School.
College students abound in Joyland as well, thanks to the Atlanta Metropolitan College, which is situated within walking distance of anywhere in the neighborhood. The Atlanta Area Technical School is a trade school located just a half-mile to the community’s west. The School of the Arts at Carver is less than a mile northeast of Joyland, while Atlanta Junior College is half-mile to its west.
