Horseshoe Bend neighborhood is located off Holcomb Bridge Road, just 2.5 miles east of Highway 400 in Roswell. The name originated from the fact that the Chattahoochee River wraps around the the neighborhood in the shape of a horseshoe. This country club community was built in the early 1970s. The neighborhood offers both old and new homes built on large, heavily wooded lots. It has a community association.
The golf course borders the Chattahoochee River and is located on 109 acres. Five of the holes of the course are on the river, while the rest meander through the neighborhood. Although the golf course is not affiliated with the neighborhood, some residents have memberships at the Horseshoe Bend Country Club.
This country club has around 1,200 members, who have access to six clay tennis courts and eight hard-surface courts. Adjacent to the courts is the club’s swimming pool. Parts of the property are heavily wooded. Among the attractions are a children’s playground, lakes, bike paths, and hiking trails. Lakes accessed by the community provide plenty of fishing.
Roswell City Park is a mile from the neighborhood and provides more playgrounds and recreational opportunities. Chattahoochee Nature Center and the Chattahoochee River National Recreational Area are also nearby and provide many water and other activities.
Among neighborhood schools is Centennial High School, which boasts the second-highest SAT scores in the state for 2010. Other schools are Fulton Science Academy, Amana Academy, the Atlanta Academy, Centennial Arts Academy, and Centennial Place Elementary School.
Favorite neighborhood restaurants include El Barco Mexican Restaurant, Phuong International Cuisine, Outback Steak House, A Taste of Asia, El Cortez Restaurant, Smoothies Express, and Bellas Pizzeria.
Hotels near Horseshoe Bend include the Stafford Hotel Group, Holiday Inn Express, and Suites Austell Powder Springs.
