The Highlands Park neighborhoods are located at the intersection of North Highland Avenue and Virginia Avenue East, in what is known as the Virginia Highland Triangle. The area mainly consists of single-family houses, though there are also a number of apartments scattered around the community. Prices for houses in this community range from the upper $300,000s to more than $1 million. The neighborhoods have some access to mass transit services.
Some of the city’s best-known schools are within a few miles of these neighborhoods, including Emory University, Westwood College, Georgia Tech University, and The Savannah College of Art and Design, which has a gallery situated close to the Highlands Park community, as well. Rhodes Hall University, named for the founder of Rhodes Furniture Stores, and The Creative Circus are also within driving distance.
Three of the city’s major outdoor parks are also easily accessed from this neighborhood. Centennial Olympic Park, built for the 1996 Olympic Games, is located less than 3 miles away, and is adjacent to a number of other attractions in the downtown area. For those seeking to get in touch with nature, Piedmont Park, the largest outdoor park in Atlanta, is just over a mile away, and offers residents the chance to enjoy walking and biking trails, have a picnic at one of the outdoor pavilions, or enjoy the open green space. The park also maintains a conservatory nearby. The oldest of Atlanta’s many parks is Grant Park. It offers similar amenities to Piedmont Park, as well as access to the city’s zoo.
Highlands Park residents also have access to a number of shopping locations, including a variety of unique boutiques, art shops, and clothing stores in the surrounding Virginia Highlands area.
