Alpharetta, GA Apartments for Rent

Situated about 26 miles north of downtown Atlanta, Alpharetta is one of the city’s more popular suburbs. Highway 400 runs directly through the city for easy commutes downtown. Alpharetta is considered an affluent area with about 65,000 residents. Settled in the mid-1800s after the Indian Removal Act, Alpharetta was one of the first areas to be settled by farmers who moved into the area. They called this settlement New Prospect Camp Ground, and it was located near present-day downtown.

Before Alpharetta became a city in 1858, it was known as the town of Milton. It served as the county seat of Milton County until that county merged with Fulton County in 1932, in order to stave off bankruptcy during the Great Depression. Today, Alpharetta is known for its large, extravagant homes, high-end shopping, and the variety of businesses and tech companies located here that causes the population to grow to roughly 100,000 on workdays. When you rent an apartment in Alpharetta, you’ll be able to attend concerts and events at the popular Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre. This outdoor music venue is situated on 45 acres and has 12,000 seats. The Grammy-winning Atlanta Symphony Orchestra often plays here, along with huge names such as Keith Urban, Ellie Goulding, Van Morrison, Styx, and the Dixie Chicks.

Alpharetta takes advantage of its beautiful, woodsy setting with plenty of parks and hiking trails. The city offers more than 16 miles of trails, including the eight-mile Alpharetta Big Creek Greenway. Parks include the 110-acre Wills Park, Webb Bridge Park and its crushed limestone jogging trail, and Waggy World Paw Park, a 1.5-acre dog park. Alpharetta is also home to several arboretums located at Cogburn Road Park, Wills Park, and Webb Bridge Park. Wills Park is also home to the Alpharetta Community Garden.

Shopping is everywhere, and you’re sure to find your favorite destinations when you move to your Alpharetta apartment. Go shopping at the North Point Mall, which is home to more than 100 retailers and includes Georgia’s only American Girl Boutique and Bistro. If you prefer outdoor shopping, Historic Downtown Alpharetta offers trendy shops and locally-owned boutiques. In all, Alpharetta offers five shopping districts, including the mixed-use Avalon. This area contains a variety of restaurants, bars, and shops. It is also the location of the Mardi Gras Pub Crawl, an annual event that offers food, New Orleans-themed drinks, live music, and (of course) beads.
