Avondale is a neighborhood northwest of Brandywine Road and Palm Beach Lakes Road, and west of Interstate 95 in West Palm Beach, Florida. It consists mainly of a single street – Avondale Court/Lane – and a cul-de-sac created by Avondale Circle. The zip code for this Palm Beach County community is 33409.

Probably the most significant feature of the Avondale neighborhood is the variety of shopping options within close proximity to the community. One of the largest options in the area – the Palm Beach Mall – closed in 2010, but is sure to be the site of new retail options, reportedly a Bass Pro Shops and IKEA. Fortunately, Avondale residents don’t have to wait for the mall transformation to be completed. A handful of other retail centers are situated within a few minutes of the neighborhood as well.

The Pine Trail Shopping Center (to the southwest at the intersection of State Highways 704 and 809) offers a Kmart, David’s Bridal, LA Fitness and Italian restaurant. Century Corners Shopping Center and Emporium Shoppes are also nearby, as are a Babies “R” Us and Best Buy. To the east of this shopping area and south of Avondale is the Westward shopping center, which hosts a PetSmart, Old Navy and Sports Authority. To the west of the Avondale neighborhood are the Crosstown Plaza and Village Commons, which both offer further retail options and eateries. Clearly, residents have no shortage of options when it comes to shopping and dining very close to home.

Although it’s a prominent area feature, shopping isn’t the only attraction of the Avondale neighborhood. For those who like to golf, the Avondale neighborhood couldn’t be more conveniently located. The Greenbrier Golf Course is situated within a few miles to the southwest, and the neighborhood is flanked by the Bear Lakes Country Club on the west and the President Country Club on the east (the latter on the opposite side of I-95).

The Northwood Institute – Florida Education Center is situated within a mile or so to the southwest.
