Vieux Carre Apartments for Rent

(hide neighborhood information)

Carre is a mostly condominium neighborhood located to the south and east of Bruce B. Downs Boulevard, north of Fletcher Avenue, and west of Lettuce Lake Park. This neighborhood has nearly six times the number of residents with a bachelor’s degree or higher than the rest of Tampa per capita. This high level of education is most likely attributed to the community’s proximity to the University of South Florida.

Residents in this neighborhood are not only college educated, but very active as well. Vieux Carre is surrounded by recreational opportunities that appeal to a wide variety of interests. In the general area of Vieux Carre is the USF Claw. This golf course is home to the University of South Florida Bulls golf team and provides high quality golfing within walking distance of Vieux Carre. Another course, Tampa Palms Golf and Country, is located just a couple of miles up Bruce B. Downs.

If golfing isn’t really your thing, Vieux Carre provides other opportunities in neighboring Lettuce Lake Park. The park is host to one of the largest rivers in the region, Hillsborough River. This river is home to hundreds of alligators, turtles, fish, and a wide variety of birds. It is also a popular destination for canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and boating. The large variety of wildlife makes Lettuce Lake Park a great location for photography; it is also common to see birdwatchers with their binoculars throughout the park.

Lettuce Lake Park isn’t just about water activities. The park has several miles of trails that are perfect for walking, running, and cycling. These scenic trails go throughout the park and provide considerable tree cover from the sometimes-intense Florida sun. Also throughout the park are numerous covered picnics areas that are popular for parties and picnics.
