Set in the northeastern part of the city, Temple Crest is situated just south of the Busch Gardens theme park and less than two miles from the campus of the University of South Florida. The neighborhood has a very strong neighborhood association, the Temple Crest Civic Association (TCCA), which has been around since 1948. It is considered one of the most active in the state. Currently, the Temple Crest Civic Association is working for neighborhood improvements that include 40th Street. The TCCA is located at 4242 Miller Avenue.

Among the nearby public parks most popular with Temple Crest residents are Rowlett Park, Temple Crest Park, and Rogers Park, site of the excellent public golf course.
