Somerset of Dunedin is a neighborhood in Dunedin, Florida. The neighborhood is located south of Scotsdale Street off Willow Wood Lane. Major roads in the area include Patricia Avenue to the west, Union Street to the south, and Keene Road to the east. Somerset is a multiple family housing community providing housing for a moderate number of residents.
Most of the area around Somerset is residential, however there are some quality destinations within only a short distance of the neighborhood. One of the more popular is Dunedin Lanes. This area bowling alley is located off Patricia Avenue. The bowling alley is known for their league games with regular leagues starting throughout the year for a number of different age groups. The alley is also popular with casual bowlers who come to relax with friends and family.
Patricia Avenue also has a number of restaurants, medical practices, and two area schools. Dunedin Elementary School and Dunedin Highland Middle School are the main schools in the area, providing much of the education for younger students. The schools also have baseball fields and multiple purpose fields that are used after school for area youth to play different sports.
A little further west, a little over a mile away from Somerset in total, is the Dunedin City Library. The library offers thousands of books, magazines and other material, as well as computers with internet access. It is a regular place for students, researchers, book lovers, and area job seekers as well. Many come to the library for the books, but even more come to take advantage of the technology for finishing up school work and job searching. The library also has many community enrichment programs aimed at increasing literacy rates and, of course, promoting younger reading. There are also basic computer classes offered.
