Shoppers will find many outlets, including a Wal-Mart on Route 19, just two miles east in Palm Harbor, and the Westfield Countryside Mall with over 160 stores is four and a half miles south on Route 19. State Route 19 is a major business artery with a variety of local retail businesses and service outlets.
Palm Harbor residents drive to Clearwater Beach to enjoy the Gulf of Mexico with its clear blue surf and white sandy beaches. Amenities include bathhouses, showers, a marina, boat ramps, lifeguards, restaurants, motels, and nightlife. The Clearwater Beach is also the home of the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, with dolphins and other marine life.
This beach is proud to offer surf wheelchairs for the disabled–which are easier to use in the sand, float in the water, and are free for users–and an ADA-approved playground.
Clearwater beach is also home to fantastic fresh seafood restaurants. Frenchy’s Water Cafe, Frenchy’s South Beach Cafe, and Frenchy’s Rockaway Grill have a reputation for fresh groper at family-friendly prices. Early on, the owners of Frenchy’s Restaurants made the business decision to buy their own dock and fishing boats. The seafood served in Frenchy’s Restaurants is caught by their own employees in the Gulf, and immediately put on ice (never frozen). The original Frenchys’ restaurant opened in 1981.
