Downtown Tampa has a little bit of everything for just about everyone: shopping, dining, entertainment, museums, galleries, and public parks. The eclectic Channel District is situated near Channelside Drive and contains a variety of architecture, from condos to skyscrapers. The TECO Historic Streetcar travels through the area, taking people to local hot spots. Situated near Grand Central, the University Area is home to some of the area’s most spectacular architecture. Its key features include the Henry B. Plant Museum and the University of Tampa. River Arts, near Madison Street, holds the six-acre Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, Glazer Children’s Museum, and John F. Germany Public Library.

Boasting more than 15 high-rise office structures and more than eight million square feet of commerce space, the downtown area provides a variety of jobs to Tampa residents. Travel is convenient thanks to light rail, buses, and taxis. The streets have sidewalks and are pedestrian-friendly. The use of bicycles for commuting is also common.
