Beltrees Plaza is just a few blocks from downtown Dunedin, (pronounced Dune-eden,) one of the most unique cities in Florida. The city has no franchise businesses and one of the most popular forms of transportation downtown is the bicycle. This community is a model for others around the state.
Dunedin was settled by Scottish families, and Dunedin High School is true to its roots. The high school has a marching band with bagpipes. The students wear traditional Scottish attire, including kilts. Middle school students from Beltrees Plaza attend Dunedin Highland Middle School. Elementary school students attend one of the area’s oldest schools, San Jose Elementary School, which opened in 1958.
Baseball is a popular pastime in Dunedin, and residents of Beltrees Plaza get to see some of Major League Baseball’s best every spring. Just a block from the neighborhood is the spring training complex for the Toronto Blue Jays.
Some of Florida’s most beautiful beaches are just minutes away from Beltrees Plaza. Causeway Boulevard is the gateway to Caladesi Island State Park. No cars are allowed on the island and visitors must get there by boat or ferry. One of Florida’s completely natural islands, Caladesi is the perfect place for a day of fishing and hiking to be capped off with a family picnic.
This distinctive community is less than 30 minutes away from Tampa and Tampa International Airport for those who commute to the city to work and/or travel. Beltrees Plaza is a comfortable respite from the busyness of life in the larger cities.
